Slow Pilot (BE)

Slow Pilot is a Belgian band with the voice and songs of Pieter Peirsman as center-piece. In 2014, they debuted with their self-titled EP, produced by David Poltrock. It was here that Pieter Peirsman, guitarist for Hooverphonic proved himself as a stand alone frontman with a powerful vocal range and talented songwriting. Four years later, the debut album 'Gentle Intruder' was released, produced by Jasper Maekelberg. The album pulled out all the stops, featuring string arrangements by the Belgian Session Orchestra.

10 years after their debut, the second Slow Pilot album has finally arrived. Most of the songs on 'Falling Off The Earth' were written during the pandemic, a time when Pieter worked night shifts at a local hospital. This proved to be the perfect backdrop for writing new songs. Other tracks emerged during a songwriting session with Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes, who immediately became a fan of Peirsman’s work. The album, produced by Luuc Cox (Stromae) sounds very different from its predecessor, with the only constants being the melancholic undertones and strong songwriting. The somewhat bombastic style of the first album has been completely abandoned, and the guitars have been pushed into the background. This made room for electronic sounds and a more subtle, refined approach. With widespread airplay, critical acclaim, and playlist recognition, the album stands as a quiet promise of even greater things to come.
